Project Details

Balboa provides oversight management of the property on an operational and budget level to facilitate the consistent operation of the Hotel.

The development of the Hyatt Regency Calgary presented several challenges including intricacies of a joint development agreement with the Telus Convention Centre.  Balboa worked closely with the City of Calgary to develop a design that would maximize the economic potential of the two individual projects.  The complexities of this relationship include a joint use loading dock facility on the plus 15 level, an internal ramp to the loading dock running the length of the Convention Centre, a stratified property ownership structure to accommodate each projects' requirements on different floor levels and a long-term cost sharing agreement.  Balboa and the City of Calgary tackled these challenges in a professional manner with both projects being completed on time.

Construction also incorporated the façades of several heritage properties on Stephen Avenue Mall.  Development occurred around the heritage properties to protect and preserve their value.  The undeniable result is a unique property from the exterior! Balboa has also maintained the same historic character throughout the interior of the premises.  The Hyatt Regency Calgary combines the bricks and mortar of yesterday - and today - creating a classic and timeless property.
